PSADA/NIAAA Student Essay Scholarship Award

This scholarship will recognize the distinguished scholastic, leadership, and citizenship attributes of high school senior student athletes, and the importance of high school athletics in each student’s life.

The Scholar/Essay Program is a three-step opportunity:

  • Students apply to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors Association by October 31 of each calendar year. Applications are submitted to Holly Farnese, CMAA electronically @ hollyfarnese@psada.org or mail to Holly Farnese, CMAA, 975 Putnam Blvd., Wallingford, PA 19086.The PSADA Scholarship Committee will select one male and one female applicant from those submitted to be the PSADA Scholar/Essay Recipient. These two seniors will be honored at the PSADA Conference in March. They will read their essays at the Opening General Session and will receive an Award Plaque and a $500.00 scholarship gift.
     
  • The two PSADA recipients will have their applications submitted to the NIAAA Section 2. NIAAA Section 2 includes the states of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington DC.  These 16 applications will be reviewed, and a male and female recipient will be named from NIAAA Section2. These recipients will receive a plaque and a $500.00 scholarship gift.
     
  • The 2 recipients from each of the NIAAA 8 Sections will have their applications submitted to the NIAAA National Scholarship/Awards Committee. One male and one female will be selected from these 16 applicants to receive the NIAAA National Scholar/Essay Award. These two students will be invited to the National Athletic Directors Conference in December. The recipients will read their essays at the Opening General Session of the NADC and receive a plaque and a $5,000.00 scholarship gift.

Wayne County Community Foundation Scholarships

The Wayne County Community Foundation offers scholarships to students interested in a wide range of areas, including but not limited to: Healthcare, Agriculture & Agribusiness, Forestry, Education, Veterinary, Horticulture, Mathematics, Business, Music, Technology, Culinary Arts, Criminal Justice and others.  Some need-based scholarships are available as well.
