Human Resources Foundation

The Human Resources Foundation is pleased to offer five annual $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Susquehanna, Wayne, Pike, and Monroe County School Districts who are entering college for the 2025-26 academic year.

Eligible students will reside in Susquehanna, Wayne, Pike, or Monroe County. The student will be planning to pursue a career in Human Services, Health Care, Social Work, or Special Education, as well as Vo-Tech careers in Construction, HVAC or Electrical Technology.

Our foundation strives to improve quality of life by funding adaptive equipment such as ramps, stair glides, lifts and bathroom modifications. HRF exists to provide support to all people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Because of this mission, we seek to encourage the next generation to play an active role in providing accessibility and inclusion for all.

Eligible students can better understand our organization by visiting www.hrfnepa.org. We prefer that applicants use our online scholarship form, but we have included a paper copy of the application for informational purposes.

Additionally, we request the submission of the student's transcript and any relevant test scores.

Applications must be received by April 15, 2025. The selected scholarship recipients will be notified in May 2025.

The monetary award will be made payable to the student's post-secondary school account.

The Legacy of Rudy Schemitz Scholarship

The Legacy of Rudy Schemitz Scholarship is awarded yearly to a graduating senior at Honesdale High School. The awardees’ aspirations must be to pursue a career in a trade by higher education. An alumnus of Honesdale High, Rudy was a local entrepreneur, compassionate visionary, and founder of cutting edge frame manufacturer New Wave Custom Woodworking. A $1,000 dollar award will be offered in his memory to someone attending a trade school in the fall of 2025. This award is to be used for educational expenses. Interested students are encouraged to apply by filling out the General Scholarship Application Form and submitting it to the HHS guidance department, along with an unofficial transcript & letter of recommendation.

Save the Trades Scholarship

This scholarship will be presented to a student pursuing a career in the trades.

Complete the application, write a short summary to describe your plans after high school describing why you’re choosing to go into the trades, and include any long-term goals you have.

Attach a high school transcript to the application to show course of study. No GPA requirement to apply.

Town & Country Energy Corporation Award

The Town & Country Energy Corporation Award is given yearly to a graduating senior at Honesdale High School.  A $500.00 award will be offered to a student who will study diesel mechanics or another trade. This award is to be used for educational expenses. Interested students are encouraged to apply by filling out the General Scholarship Application Form and submitting it to the HHS guidance department, along with an unofficial transcript.

Area of study: Diesel Mechanics or other Trade School

The Vern Moyer Aviation Scholarship

The Community Foundation of Monroe County (CFMC) is pleased to offer the Vern Moyer Aviation Scholarship to individuals in Monroe County and its adjacent counties who demonstrate a passion and commitment to pursuing a career in aviation (including flying or mechanic).

The Vern Moyer Scholarship for Aviation is available to an individual who is:

    • a resident of Monroe, Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Northampton, Pike, or Wayne County, Pennsylvania
    • demonstrates a clear passion for aviation through previous experiences, personal statements, and future career goals.
    • is enrolled in or planning to enroll in an accredited aviation or aerospace-related training/education program.

After completing the Universal Scholarship application on the portal, students can complete the online application for the scholarship opportunities for which they qualify between January 2 and March 1, 2025.

Wayne County Community Foundation Scholarships

The Wayne County Community Foundation offers scholarships to students interested in a wide range of areas, including but not limited to: Healthcare, Agriculture & Agribusiness, Forestry, Education, Veterinary, Horticulture, Mathematics, Business, Music, Technology, Culinary Arts, Criminal Justice and others.  Some need-based scholarships are available as well.

Wayne Pike Building Industry Association Scholarship

An eligible individual shall be a Senior High School student who is in good standing.
Only senior high school students are eligible. The 
applicant must intend to enroll in a post-high school institution as a full-time student.
The students chosen to receive scholarships will be selected by the association's Scholarship Committee. Their selection will be determined based on the information provided on the application forms received but without the committee's knowledge of the names of those applying. The applicant may be required to be present for an interview.

Along with the application and contents, please provide a transcript of the applicant’s high school record, supporting test scores, and, a brief letter of recommendation. The presentation of awards will occur at the end of the school year. The stipend will not be distributed until the successful completion of the applicant’s first semester.

Wayne/Pike County Farm Bureau Scholarship

The Wayne/Pike County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce their scholarship opportunity for area high school seniors. All seniors in the Wayne/Pike County Farm Bureau service area, which include Wayne and Pike counties, are encouraged to apply. A monetary total will be divided among winning candidates at the discretion of the Wayne/Pike County Farm Bureau. The cash awards may be used toward tuition, room, board, books and school supplies.

 

The Wayne/Pike County Farm Bureau offers the "Agriculture, The Heart of a Growing Wayne/ County" Scholarship to deserving high school seniors as a way to heighten a long-term interest in agriculture and its varied positive impacts in our area. The local Farm Bureau also hopes to promote student consideration of the growing field of agricultural career opportunities such as: Food Science Processing, Nutrition, Biotechnology, Wildlife Conservation, Botany, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Renewable Energy, Mechanics, Landscaping, Ag Education, Ag Communications, Animal Science, Horticulture and Agronomy.

 

Winners will be selected from the completed applications received on or before the February 24, 2025 deadline, at the address on the application. Winners will be selected utilizing a scoring combination composed of academics, community and school involvement, work history and career goals, as well as the essay. The essay is to be written in the student's own words. The use of Al technology is prohibited. A panel of judges will score the applications. Awards will be presented at the Wayne/Pike County Fai Bureau Spring Meeting on April 5, 2025.

 

Area of study: Food Science Processing, Nutrition, Biotechnology, Wildlife Conservation, Botany, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Renewable Energy, Mechanics, Landscaping, Ag Education, Ag Communications, Animal Science, Horticulture and Agronomy.

Award amount: A monetary total will be divided among winning candidates at the discretion of the Wayne/Pike County Farm Bureau.
